Reflecting this trend, the report highlights that supporting employee career development has become a higher priority for organizations in Southeast Asia, with a 7% increase in focus on Learning and Development (L&D) initiatives. Companies with strong learning cultures report higher retention rates and more effective internal management compared to those with less commitment to employee development. 

Additionally, the rise of Generative AI (GenAI) further underscores the need for ongoing upskilling. Deloitte’s 2024 Gen Z and Millennial Survey reveals that while the technology is generally well-received, 59% of Gen Z and 57% of Millennial respondents believe that the evolution of GenAI will necessitate reskilling and influence their career decisions.


Among the various approaches to employee development, the LinkedIn report highlighted that 50% of organizations in Southeast Asia are incorporating career mentoring and coaching into their L&D strategies. However, an emerging trend known as “loud learning” is gaining popularity, particularly among younger employees. Here’s what professionals need to know about this rising approach.

The Singapore Business Review reports that 31% of professionals in Singapore are already adopting this approach, with 47% actively sharing their learnings with team members. Given the demands of modern work schedules, loud learning provides a structured way for professionals to prioritize learning and development.
