Morning rituals are essential to set your mind for the day. Try this morning routine to keep yourself in pristine shape throughout the day.

The way you start your day determines how well you live your day, Robin Sharma, a Canadian humanitarian, said. A lot of research has shown that a consistent morning routine is beneficial to your life. For example, it can reduce stress, boost your energy levels, and improve productivity at work.

Many successful people are famous for their morning routine. Take Oprah Winfrey for example. Her morning routine consists of twenty minutes of meditation and exercises. Steve Jobs is said to have made his bed once he woke up, and then looked at the mirror deep in his own thoughts for a few minutes.

While it's true that their success is not solely because of their morning routine, it never hurts to adopt their morning routine. Aside from getting inspiration from successful people, try these tips to achieve a better day.

Plan Ahead

Checking your emails and to-do list right after waking up will trick your brain to go into panic mode, the clinical strategy manager of mental health equity at Modern Health, Jessica Jackson, explained. To prevent this, plan your day the day before. This will eliminate surprises and you are mentally ready for tomorrow, especially if you have an important event on the next day.

Drink Water

Water is essential for our body. It’s necessary to keep yourself hydrated throughout the day, but drinking water right after you wake up is good for your health. For example, it can rehydrate your body after a waterless night, Real Simple explained. After sleeping with your mouth open or in a warm room, drinking water can help with replenishing the lost liquid.

Shower with Cold Water

Cold showers are generally healthy because it can help improve symptom relief. However, taking a cold shower in the morning can improve your day. Healthline stated that cold showers increase endorphins and help improve the circulatory system. The coldness will increase your alertness, and you definitely need it before you start your day.

Don’t Forget Breakfast

A lot of people skip their breakfast for many reasons. However, you can start your day better if you get your nutrient intake in the morning. Medical News Today cited a 2021 research that said people who eat breakfast seven times per week have a reduced risk for high blood pressure, heart disease, and diabetes. If you’d rather not fill your stomach with a full course first time in the morning, take a simple but nutritious meal such as greek yogurt, whole-grain toast, nuts, or eggs.

Make It Fun

Last but not least, try to make your morning routine fun for you. It’s easy to find articles about the perfect morning routine out there, but it’s all useless if you still hate it. Instead, do things that can lift up your mood. For example, make a playlist with upbeat songs, so you can dance in it while preparing your breakfast.

Conclusion

Morning or not, having a routine and sticking to it will improve your health in various ways. “It’s about building good habits,” Cheryl Beutell, a psychiatric nurse at Northwestern Medicine explained. Good habits can help us maintain positive relationships, good hygiene, and our best health,” she continued.
